# wpa-supplicant -B -Dwext -ira0 -c/etc/wpa_nf -dĪfter some time, the older wpa_supplicant is started again and both stay running aside. After that, I killed the former wpa_supplicant process and started a new with: The better I could do was restarting wpa_supplicant with a crafted config file (/etc/wpa_nf), mimicking the example of wpa-psk-ccmp given in /usr/share/doc/wpasupplicant/examples. The documentation provided assures that the "iwconfig" interface is supported, but up to now, it seems not to be the case. Even trying to run something like:ĭoesn't seem to change the real values. In fact, the PSK (I use WPA-PSK) is configured at three places: network manager, at the GUI at the file RT2870STA.dat (with vi) and wpa_nf (see below), but it seems that only the former is effective, and only is read when the kernel module is insmod'ed. All I found was network manager, but it seems that the configuration I put there makes no difference at all. I suppose there should be a user friendly way to configure it. "-s" is undocumented, and "-u" is related to dbus-supplied configuration. There is a wpa_supplicant instance running in the machine, with options -u and -s. When it's time to configure wpa_supplicant, I'm very confused. That is, it seems the adapter is listening to something, including my neighbour's AP (changed SSID to xxxx in order to hide his name. Ndiswrapper was my first trial it did't work, even using the installation CD from Windows. an interface named ra0 appears at the output of ifconfig -a, UP, but with no IP address the kernel module was insmod'ed into the kernel (with modprobe rt3370sta) again, no problems here managed to have the firmware stored at /lib/firmware (called rt2870.bin)

configured some components (the driver strangely uses a config file named /etc/Wireless/RT2870STA/RT2870STA.dat, plenty of configuration details), as recommended by vendor
D LINK DWA 125 WIFI ADAPTER NOT WORKING INSTALL
installed it in the kernel with make install no problems here compiled it successfully (but with some warnings) against the kernel include files from Mint 9 Gnome last module version is called rt3370sta only to leave registered, the tarball downloaded is DPO_RT3370_LinuxSTA_V2.4.0.1_20100831.tgz

determined that the device seems to have a chip from Ralink, RT3070 I could solve some problems, as the kernel module is not in the default distribution, as long as I checked out: I'm having some bad times trying to put an USB wifi adapter running into Linux Mint 9 Gnome.
